Vietnam from one of the poorest countries in the world has become one of the economy's fastest growing and is recognized as a country with low average income levels in 2010.
The result that growth was made possible by the economic reforms and strong international integration process through World Trade Organization, has helped reduce the poverty rate from 58% to 14% during the period 1993 - 2008 and estimated total of 11.8% in 2011.
Along with the improvement of living standards of people, Vietnam has continuously improved development indicators, as well as enhanced access to educational services, health care and social safety nets for many components more widely in society.
World praised Vietnam has taken steps to build a more equitable society for the benefit of all those objects the most vulnerable in society such as the poor, ethnic minorities, women and people with disabilities.
UNDP helps Vietnam to achieve success on a number of areas breakthrough in three decades, but most recently completed most of the MDGs ahead of schedule in 2015, especially MDG 1 on poverty reduction.
Looking to the future, Vietnam now adjust economic growth model toward a period of growth and sustainable development of the next.
